Description

The serfs grow increasingly tired of the brutal and irrational treatment they are subjected to at the hands of their lord. The Baron is a feudal knight of a militant and formerly prosperous fiefdom with coffers swollen by recent land grabs. During a campaign for further territory acquisition the Baron was made awares of a tomb on the outskirts of a neighbouring lord's manor. While rumoured to contain the dowry and burial tributes of a wealthy aristocratic couple struck down in their prime by a virulent and pernicious illness that had wracked the local countryside, it was said that grave robbers have superstitiously avoided the loot. After the Baron had dashed their remains about the crypt, while ordering the collection of anything of value, he returned to his own estates. He began refusing to be seen outside of his armour, and a horrific stench emanated from both his person and quarters. He had his smithy refashion and modify his armour in seemingly illogical ways which should have rendered it unwearable by a normal person. Servant girls consistently went missing when attending him in his private chambers, and he became a rare sight outside these rooms. His lands lay in disarray, and his subjects starve and flounder.

Blue colerase pencil, and Photoshop.

Very nice, could you sometime post your WIP of that pictures ? I'd like see just your work at half with pencil because at the end it's allways superb.

I'd love to see some of your work-in-progress shots as you do these. They say a picture tells a thousand words, and all your drawings seem to have a narrative of their own, even before I've read the description. Amazing work.

what amazes me the most about your work is the fact that there are so many details and armor layers but yet you suceed in not overdoing it (which is sometimes all to easy).

Very inspiring :)

Thanks, everyone.
Sawamura, and DigitalDust, funny thing is that, apart from the warhammer, his codpiece is probably the most realistic and historically accurate thing in this design...
Flay, and ceenda, I'll try and scan some process shots for some of my future stuff.
CROMZL, that's kind of hinted at in the story bit (though I guess it could also be like jousting armour and he has to tilt his head to see).

I must admit that the armor study is extremely well done. Especially the grotesque protrution of the genitalia, although might seem odd to some people, is pretty realistic, I must say. Much of the artistic armor from the medieval era had such parts to it, but they were rarely (to almost never) used in battle, as it would cause difficulties in riding a mount (duh, obviously).

The focus on protruding genitalia has always been seen as either a symbol of power or evil -and mostly a shunned figure in medieval Europe.

One of my favourite things about good art is that when I look at it I get the sense that theres a bigger story, this is what i get from your pieces. not only are thay fantastically rendered but the design thats gone in to them is stunning,
top marks, love the post apocalyptic setting, Im a sucker for the "so long after the fall of the world technology has been lost scenario"Id love to see a big fat coffee table book of your stuff complete with notes & scetches.
again excellent.
